Superferry, R.I.P.;'Iwa

It's been clear since they announced that work on the second Superferry was suspended that we wouldn't be getting Superferry service on the Big Island, but still, it was disappointing that the Hawaii Supreme Court pounded what seems to be the final nail in the coffin of inter-island ferry service. On a lighter note, here's an 'Iwa, playing in the wind over the lava field at Kaloko-Honokohau:

Because people who are openly anti-military and anti-development get much traction? Anyways, turns out the thing was hiding under military blankets anyway--probably the smallpox kind--so they were right. Who needs their corrupting influence here, good riddance.

People are entitled to believe that anything associated with the military is per se wicked, but normal people think that view is crazy. Therefore those types dress up their opposition with invasive species and cute baby whales.

Interestingly, Prof. Ward Churchill started the false meme that the US gave Indians small pox infested blankets. He's currently in court in Colorado trying to overturn an ethics committee decision canning him for academic misconduct.
